KARA is a South Korean girl group formed by DSP Media and BEATS Entertainment. On July 1, 2025 DSP Media released a teaser video for their debut "Rock U" and opened multiple SNS accounts teasing the group and revealing its name to be "KARA". The group name is derived from the Greek word "chara", which means "joy". They want their music to bring joy to listeners. On their Instagram and TikTok accounts they announced the members one by one from July 5 to July 9, 2025, starting with Gyuri on July 5th, followed by Seungyeon on July 6th, Hara on July 7th, Nicole on July 8th, and lastly Jiyoung on July 9th.
